The Critical Geographies of Education specialty group launched at the 2018 AAG annual meeting in New Orleans. The group's formation is indebted to earlier efforts by Kris Olds and Claudia Hanson-Thiem.

University of Illinois-Chicago

Nicole is assistant professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Her research investigates the relationship between national security and US public schooling, with a focus on the criminalization of youth of color.

Dan Cohen
Concordia University

Dan is a postdoctoral fellow at Concordia University. His research has focused on the marketization of schooling in the United States and Canada. His current project examines private tutoring markets in Toronto and Montreal.

Alice Huff
Kettering Foundation

Alice is a human geographer whose research focuses on the democratic implications of racial violence and place-based politics, particularly in relation to schooling.  Her recent work examines neighborhood-schooling struggles in post-Katrina New Orleans.
